Who is eligible for the free contraception scheme?
You can get free contraception if you are:
⦁A woman or person with a uterus
⦁Have a valid prescription (GP consultation is free of charge)
⦁Have a PPS number
⦁Living in Ireland
You do not need a prescription for the emergency contraceptive pill (morning after pill). Our pharmacists at Clonee pharmacy can give the emergency contraceptive pill after a private and confidential consultation, no need to visit your GP.
What types of contraception are free at Clonee Pharmacy?
The contraceptive pill, patch, implant, IUD and other forms are available free at Clonee Pharmacy,
excluding condoms which are available free at sexual health clinics around the country

You will need a prescription from a GP or Doctor outlining the form of contraception requested.

No, you do not need to have a medical card to get free contraception.
