What is shingles?
Shingles is an infection that causes a painful rash. It is caused by the chickenpox (varicella zoster) virus.

- nerve pain such as burning and tingling may occur before the rash develops

- itching, blistering and even numbness can occur alongside the rash

- is dormant in 95% of adults and can be reactivated at any time even after periods of immense stress

Frequently Asked Questions
How many doses of Shingrix will I need?
You will need to get two doses of the Shingrix vaccine to complete the course. The second dose should be given after two months and up to six months after your first vaccine. You can book your appointments at Clonee Pharmacy which is located in County Meath close to Dublin 15.
Can I get the shingles vaccine if I have already had shingles?
Yes you can get vaccinated with Shingrix even if you have had shingles before. You would have to wait one year after you have had shingles to begin the vaccination regime. It is important to remember that you can get shingles more than once.
